Over the past two months we have been running a food drive in coordination with North York Harvest Food Bank. This past Tuesday, October 28th, we were ecstatic to have the privilege of donating over 200 food items, weighing in at 230 lb, which will be distributed to the local community this holiday season.
In short, life is busy. Sometimes it is too easy to get caught up in our own daily issues and conflicts, losing sight of what is truly important in life. Local food drive initiatives remind us of which priorities are important. They encourage us to reciprocate the support our own community and city provides us with on a daily basis. As Jane Jacobs once wrote: “Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody”. A community can only thrive as much as its residence allow it to do so.
We would like to thank everyone who was able to assist us with our Company Food Drive this year. Our donation would not have been possible without the help of those who took the time to donate items, or our staff members, who also assisted in gathering items. Once again, North York Harvest Food Bank was a pleasure to work with; assisting us by providing donation boxes and any other necessary items we needed to make our food drive a success. With these combined efforts, along with many others in the city contributing to local food banks this year, we believe the joy will be brought back to food this holiday season.
