Are the courts closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

Yes.  As of the time of this writing all Ontario courts, including the Superior Court of Justice (which hears Family cases), the Court of Appeal, and the Small Claims courts have suspended their operations until further notice.  The narrow exception is for “urgent and emergency” matters, including those related to COVID-19.

Likewise, the Federal Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada have closed their doors to the public, and have ceased with their general sittings. Certain specially-scheduled or urgent hearings, and case conferences conducted by telephone may proceed.
