How do I find a good divorce lawyer?

Finding the right divorce lawyer is like finding the right spouse in the first place – you want to make sure there is a good “fit” right from the outset.

The best way, is by word-of-mouth.  Getting a referral from a trusted friend or colleague, who has already gone through the divorce process, makes it likely that the recommended lawyer will also provide you with good service.

The other good way, is to get a referral from another lawyer who practices in an area other than Family Law.  For example, you may have used a lawyer for your recent sale of a home, or perhaps you had your Will drawn up or arranged to have a business incorporated.  These lawyers will be able to recommend a good divorce lawyer who will serve your needs.
